Strobistical: First flash experiment! Camera on a tripod with a remote control, built in flash set to 1/32 power and used solely to trigger the handheld strobe, which I held in my left hand, pretty close to my face. The strobe had a cheapo slave unit on it, which I picked up today from the local second hand camera store. The lens was stopped right down. I think the flash was doing some thinking, too. It has a thyristor on there. Not sure what it’s doing, but then, digital means you can experiment freely. The image is seriously dicked around with in Lightroom, but the exposure is pretty much left untouched (I pushed fill light and recovery up to 100%, used the black slider to take the shadows down again and then added a little to the exposure). I like the textures in my skin, and the highlights picked up from my ‘beard’ on the shadow side.
